As we all know, this is a failure point with Porsche 911's which has caused many of us a lot of grief. This is where it pays to use a product that has qualified as Best-in-Class and eliminate failures.
Choose Quality
The world is flooded with cheap $20.00 DME relays. It's your car and your choice but we recommend spending a few extra bucks on a solid state relay. You can use one of the cheapo's as a backup which you will probably never need. We have chosen the one made by Focus 9 Technology as our Best-in-Class® DME relay. Lower price and higher quality than those offered by Porsche®.
“Diagnostics” (Optional Feature)
This optional feature allows you to instantly know the state of the DME Relay. It features four LEDs that are directly connected to the critical inputs and outputs of the relay. All four LEDs must be illuminated for the engine to start and run. If one or more LED(s) are off , there is an issue with the corresponding circuit.
- Yellow: Input signal to power up fuel injection system and enable fuel pump control.
- Red: Output indicating the fuel injection system is powered up.
- Green: Input signal indicating the DME has commanded the fuel pump on.
- Blue: Output indicating the fuel pump is powered up.
Pump-Prime Version
The Pump-Prime feature automatically runs the fuel pump for up to 3 seconds when the ignition is switched to the "On" position. This builds optimum fuel pressure before cranking the engine, insuring your Porsche starts as fast and as smooth as it possibly can.
