H4 Technological Break-Through?
Until now it has been disastrous to try and upgrade H4 reflector headlights to LED lamps by replacing the bulbs. Which is why we have always strongly recommended against it and have never sold them. But technology is always advancing and these bulbs are specifically designed for an H4 application by Philips which many consider to be the #1 automotive lighting company.
Recommended For Testing by AC Lighting Consultant Daniel Stern
These were first recommended to us by our Lighting Consultant Daniel Stern, the first H4 LED bulbs that he has recommended. And the European Union agreed with Daniel - prior to these LED bulbs with H4 sockets were prohibited in the EU. These are approved for on-road use in Germany and others are sure to follow. Still for off-road use only in the U.S. which has always been well behind the curve in automotive lighting (halogen bulbs were approved worldwide except the U.S. in the 1960's - the U.S. approved them in the 1990's, demonstrating the power of lobbyists).
Testing Underway by AC Beta Test Team
Following Daniel's recommendation these are being thoroughly test by members of the AC Beta Test Team on their own cars. The initial report on the other H4-LED bub contender, Osram Night Breaker, is located HERE.
We don't recommend and add products to our catalog lightly. Our expert AC Beta Test Team will have the last word.
