Perfect Balance" Porsche 911 Brake upgrade for 1969-89 cars (not Turbo or Turbo look).
Very complete kit with all hardware included. Special tools and brake bleeding adapters are included.
Highly detailed instructions included, but still recommended for experienced installers, especially for the A-arm modifications.
The JWest "Perfect Balance" brake upgrade for the Porsche 911 provides "Big Brake" looks and increased heat sink abilities.
Maintains the factory front-rear bias for "Perfect Balance" braking.
This kit is not a big caliper on a small rotor like many "upgrades." The hydraulic piston area is similar to stock, with better caliper design, less weight, and bigger rotors.
Front rotor diameter increased from 282 to 298 mm. Thickness increased 20 to 28mm (24 to 28mm increase on 84-89).
Clearancing of A-arm is required to fit larger front rotor. Offset ball joints or raised spindles negate the need to clearance and are highly recommended to simplify installation.
Rear rotor increased from 20 to 24mm thickness (pre-1984) - uses original rear rotor for 84-89.
Front rotor diameter is increased, which increases the brake torque. The rear caliper piston area has been increased slightly compared to stock, bringing the brake balance back into the factory range.
No master cylinder change required. Brake torque bias ratio (hydraulic + mechanical) very close to stock 911.
Porsche replacement rotors can be easily sourced in many configurations (we don't use a custom rotor from only one source with questionable quality). Front '86 944 Turbo (951.351.041.00). Rear '84-'89 911 Carrera (91135204109).
Caliper body is stress-flow forged from premium grade aluminum alloy billet. One piece stainless steel caliper pistons. Stainless is used for its slow heat transfer properties and high resistance to corrosion. Light weight calipers weigh about 6 lbs with pads (Porsche cast iron "A" calipers weigh over 11 lbs each).
Caliper rebuild kits are inexpensive and the caliper rebuild is simple.
Numerous pad compounds available from Wilwood. Other brands also make pads for Wilwood shape #7416 including Hawk, EBC, PFC, Carbotech.
Calipers are stocked in Red or Black powder coat with WILWOOD logo. Removal of logo falls into custom finish category. Custom caliper finishes and logos (or no logo) are available for special order.
16 inch or larger diameter wheels typically required. 16" 911 Fuchs usually require a 4mm wheel spacer to clear in front. 1986 951 Fuchs will clear. See diagram to measure for other wheels.
Available for both 3.5 and 3 inch front strut mount spacing. That's right, you can finally upgrade to big brakes without changing to the 3.5 inch strut mount. Not for 914/4 struts.
Works with aluminum and steel rear trailing arms. Not for early SWB suspension. Not for 914 rear.
47mm offset front hubs required.
Complete kit includes all the parts you need to complete your conversion, with options available so you don't have to pay for parts you don't need.
